Straddie Brewing Co have lift off! Construction started in October on their Island Brewery at Dunwich.
The various Covid-related build delays put them 18 months behind from where they’d hope to have been and for the past year they’ve been batch brewing Straddie beers at Ballistic Beer in Salisbury. The reverse osmosis filtration equipment at Ballistic enables Andrew (Straddie Brewing’s Head Brewer) to closely reproduce Straddie’s water profile, which is apparently amazing for brewing beer.
Brisbane-based Apollo Property will partner with them on the build. They come with solid credentials & previous brewery experience, having carried out the build for Brewdog at Murrarie.
The microbrewery/brewpub, situated just minutes from the SeaLink Ferry Terminal, in the beautiful township of Dunwich, will be three storeys; the microbrewery production area will occupy the ground floor housing a 10hl brewhouse and 200hl cellar, the first floor will feature a 60 seat taproom for beer tasting and food service, with views out towards Moreton Bay; and the top floor will feature a ‘sunset’ roof deck and a private studio apartment.
