Island Jewellery Making Day Pass - Morning Session

Presented by local fibre artist Paula Boo.

Come and join local Minjerribah artist Paula Boo as she guides you through designing your very own woven earrings or pendant. Paula will share widely used coiling basketry techniques with natural and hand-dyed raffia, and sterling silver jewellery findings.

Settling around a table in the beautiful venue of Oasis on Straddie, Paula will help you create your individual piece during this two hour workshop. As you learn some basic techniques, you will hear about the natural fibres from the island and other materials that Paula incorporates into her arts practice. You will be inspired by 'Clancy’s Sun', a large commissioned woven piece created especially for the Follow the Sun Festival, that hangs proudly at Oasis on Straddie.

For day pass visitors, as you come off the Sealink Passenger Ferry climb aboard the North Stradbroke Island Bus at Goompi/Dunwich. Wind down as you head to Mulumba/Point Lookout, enjoying the scenic landscapes of Minjerribah/North Stradbroke Island, but make sure to hop off at the Home Beach stop. Your venue, ‘Oasis on Straddie’ can be found opposite the sport fields.

Itinerary recommendation

• Passenger Ferry Transfer: 8.55am (or any time prior)
• Bus to Point Lookout: 9.25am (ticket additional cost)
• Workshop: 10am – 12pm (morning session)
• Lunch (optional): walking distance to Stan’s, Bowls Club & Hotel
• Bus to Dunwich: 3.20pm (ticket additional cost)
• Passenger Ferry Transfer: 3.55pm

Tour Numbers: Please note this day pass is based on a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 8 people to proceed. If minimum numbers have not been met, you will be contacted 48hrs prior to tour date to change dates or receive a full refund. 

Ferry travel is not restricted to any time or date, the above itinerary is a recommendation for the Day Pass. SeaLink Passenger Ferry tickets can be used for any day or time and for both passenger ferries and to walk onto vehicle ferries.
